About Us
Homesteading Alliance
Homesteading Alliance is a small, independent publisher of practical guides for backyard gardeners, homesteaders, and small-scale growers. We are based in coastal Massachusetts and run by Chris.
We started with a simple question: how did farmers feed their soil for generations before fertilizer companies existed? Our work is about bringing those old-world, low-cost methods into a form a home gardener can actually use, with clear recipes, plain language, and real safety notes.
What We Make
Our flagship guide is The Living Soil Cookbook, a collection of natural farming recipes, including ferments and extracts you can brew from kitchen scraps and weeds, with ratios and timing matched to your plant's growth stage. Alongside it, we publish companion guides and simple tools on topics like composting, growing systems, and home apothecary skills.
How We Write
- Plain and practical. We write the way you would explain a method to a neighbor over the fence.
- Honest about limits. The preparations we teach are mineral tonics and biostimulants. They work best alongside good compost and healthy soil, and results vary from garden to garden.
- Safety included. When a method involves materials that need care, we say so clearly, and we include handling notes and waiting periods.
- Grounded in published sources. Our guides draw on published natural farming literature and the work of practitioners. We are a publisher, not a laboratory or a university, and we do not claim to be one.
Our Promise to You
Every Product is backed by a 60-day money-back guarantee. If a guide is not right for you, email us and we will make it right.
